Jeffrey Brown is a partner in the firm's intellectual property practice group who offers extensive experience counseling clients on a wide variety of business and intellectual property matters. His practice includes trademark, copyright, trade secret, advertising and unfair competition issues. He assists clients in developing strategies to protect, exploit and enforce their intellectual property rights and represents them against allegations of infringement. He has substantial experience representing clients in contested proceedings, including before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, the World Intellectual Property Organization and self-regulatory bodies such as the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus. Mr. Brown has participated in numerous transactions involving the acquisition, disposition and licensing of intellectual property and business assets. He is well versed in the legal issues regarding the Internet and e-commerce.

Mr. Brown advises clients with respect to their advertising, marketing and promotions. He collaborates with client marketing teams and their agencies to provide guidance regarding advertising and promotional materials and advises them regarding claim substantiation and comparative advertising. He represents clients in their challenges to their competitors' advertisements and vigorously defends them against challenges brought by competitors and regulators. Mr. Brown guides clients through structuring and executing effective and legally compliant contests, sweepstakes and other promotions.

Mr. Brown's prior business experience as a concert producer and promoter provides him with practical experience to structure and negotiate entertainment deals. He represents bands and entertainment companies in connection with the negotiation of recording agreements and merchandising deals and other uses of sound recordings and musical compositions. He also negotiates branded entertainment, product placement and sponsorship deals, including in connection with television programming, concert tours and large scale events. He is experienced with negotiating sponsorship and endorsement deals on behalf of entertainers as well as brand owners.
