My name is Tabitha Brincat and I joined the Landerholm Law team in July 2012 as a family law attorney. I grew up in the Eugene area and attended college at Oregon State University. At OSU, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science in three years, achieving Cum Laude honors as I worked nearly full time as a writing assistant at the campus Writing Center, as a private tutor, and various other jobs.

Shortly after graduation, I moved to San Diego, California, to attend an accelerated paralegal certificate program at the University of San Diego. After graduating with honors, I worked as a paralegal for a plaintiff's civil litigation firm focused on elder abuse and catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death. At that point, I decided to attend law school.

When I began law school, I never intended to practice family law. However, after doing an internship with the Family Law Facilitator's Office of the San Diego Superior Court, I changed my mind. I found that family law was a good fit for me so I could best advocate for my clients and their children's best interests.

I graduated from California Western School of Law in San Diego with Cum Laude honors in the top 25% of my class, and earned several academic achievement awards during my time there. Since passing the California Bar Exam, I have practiced family law with a firm in San Diego until I relocated to Oregon in 2012 to be closer to my family.  I joined Landerholm Law at that time and have been happy to make my professional home here.

As an advocate, an important goal is to serve the best interests of children involved in any custody case and to ease the transition for them during this uncertain time. As a child of divorce myself, I bring that perspective to my cases. I draw from both my personal and professional experience in my efforts to create custody and visitation schedules which minimize hostility and create as much consistency as possible for the children.

In addition to my case load, I have dedicated time to finding new and creative ways to minimize custody conflicts at travel points, such as airports. Often, one parent desires to travel with the children and the other parent comes to the airport to stop the travel in a very public and hostile manner. I have worked with the San Diego Harbor Police and the San Diego County Superior Court Judges to create a universal form to govern travel restrictions for minors, therefore reducing confusion and conflict between the estranged parents at airports. This clarity would in turn avoid pubic and upsetting confrontations between the parents, and avoid involvement of the police. The form has been well-received in San Diego County and is in the process of being adopted as a local form there. I look forward to continuing this work in hopes that it may relieve the Court and the police of expending precious resources on these conflicts. I hope in time to bring this proposal to Oregon as well.

In my free time, I love to cook for others, spend time with family and friends, travel, spend time at the beach, and practice yoga. I also love music and attending concerts. I tend to approach life with healthy cynicism and realism, but always with a little optimism for the silver lining.
