David Breiner is an associate attorney with BrownWinick and his practice includes patent application preparation and prosecution. In particular, David has considerable experience drafting and prosecuting applications involving semiconductors, semiconductor wafer processing, semiconductor fabrication, and packaging. He also has experience in other technical areas including, display devices such as LCD, LED and plasma displays, digital cameras, wireless communication systems, fiber optic systems, digital image processing, audio and video consumer electronics.
Other areas of David's practice have included ink-jet print heads, laser printers, electro-optical systems including scanners, copiers and other peripheral devices.
Prior to law school, David worked as an engineer in the power industry where he gained extensive experience in both structural and mechanical engineering. He is also a Professional Engineer. Before joining BrownWinick, David worked as a patent attorney at a top ranked boutique patent firm in Washington, D.C.
David attended the University of Nebraska and received his B.S. in Biology in 1989, B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1994 and his Master of Science in Engineering Mechanics in 1997. While obtaining his Master of Science, David did his Master's Thesis on Deterioration of Soft PZT Due to Cyclic Loading, was a guest Scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology the Summer of 1996 and was cited as Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant in 1996.
David received his J.D., with Dean's Honors, from Washburn University School of Law in 2006 and was the President and founding member of the Washington Law Intellectual Property Society. David was admitted to the Kansas bar and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas in 2006 and is admitted to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a registered patent attorney (2007).
