Paul B. Brickfield has been practicing law since 1982. He is admitted to the federal and state bar in New Jersey and New York. For the past fifteen years, he has been in private practice in the areas of criminal defense and civil litigation handling both trial work and appeals in federal, state and municipal courts. In 2006, he was granted certification by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a certified criminal trial lawyer. Prior to entering private practice, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey where he was a deputy chief of the Special Prosecutions Division. As a federal prosecutor, he handled cases involving drugs, public corruption and white collar fraud. He then served as the First Assistant Prosecutor for the Bergen County, New Jersey Prosecutor's Office. As First Assistant Prosecutor, he was responsible for overseeing prosecutors and investigators in a broad range of cases and personally handled cases involving sexual offenses, armed robbery and police corruption. Mr. Brickfield began his legal career as a litigation associate at the Wall Street firm of Shearman & Sterling in New York City. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and Holy Cross College. In 2006, he was elected a trustee of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey.
