Matthew joined BSDD as a summer associate in 2003 before accepting a full-time associate position in 2004. Matthew became a member of the firm in 2012. Matthew handles commercial litigation matters for a broad range of clients, from local small businesses to global corporations. Matthew also works on real estate transactions and litigation, and he represents lenders in workouts, collection actions, and bankruptcy matters.
Matthew graduated from Wayne State University Law School, magna cum laude, and was elected into the local chapter of the Order of the Coif. During law school, Matthew served as an executive editor on the Wayne Law Review and earned many academic awards and scholarships. Matthew also earned a fellowship to attend a summer session at The Hague Academy of International Law.
Matthew is dedicated to providing pro bono services to individuals and organizations in need. Matthew counseled the City of Detroit Charter Revision Commission in crafting a new city charter. The new charter was approved and adopted by the citizens of Detroit in November, 2011.
