Bill Brasher is the managing partner of Boyle Brasher LLC and a Co-founder of the Firm. He is nationally recognized as a trial lawyer, innovator, and counselor on the cutting edge in transportation law and litigation. His exceptional knowledge of various aspects of the common law and statutes relating to the railroad industry is broad and deep. Bill also has significant practice in the area of health law representing numerous major hospitals throughout the country. He has also been recognized as a go to attorney in the gaming industry for his representation of the Missouri Gaming Associations as well as several gaming companies. He has tried or handled cases in federal or state jurisdictions in over twenty states. Bill has handled a significant number of appellate matters at both the federal and state levels involving appeals in the United States Circuit Courts of Appeal, the U.S. Supreme Court and in the intermediate and supreme courts in several states. Prior to entering private practice Bill was General Counsel – Litigation for a Fortune 500 transportation company.
Bill has been recognized for over a decade and a half as one of the “Best Lawyers in America” by Woodward & White. He has also been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” in Missouri and Kansas and by St. Louis Magazine as one of St. Louis’ Best Lawyers. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and is a past President and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel where he serves on the Executive Committee. Bill is the originating author and current co-editor of the “Railroad Litigator’s Notebook”, a Trial Notebook for lawyers defending railroads. He is also one of the principal authors of the “Federal Preemption” Notebook. Bill is a faculty member of the NARTC Trial College. He is also a frequent speaker on a wide range of topics involving the trial of civil actions.
Bill is also frequently involved and consulted on appeals at both the federal and state levels including appeals in the United States Circuit Court of Appeals, The United States Supreme Court and in the intermediate and supreme courts in several states.
As the child of a career military father, Bill lived in several states as a child finally settling in Texas where he went to college and law school. His college studies were interrupted with his service in the Army where as a distinguished young graduate of the Army’s Officer Training School at Ft. Bennings, Georgia he served as an infantry platoon leader in Vietnam. Upon completing his Army service Bill completed his education. Bill enjoys reading, traveling with his wife, following the exploits of his children and the St. Louis Cardinals. For the past decade he has been actively involved as a volunteer at the John Burroughs School.
