C. Chadwick "Carlos" Boykin graduated from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in English. At Tuskegee, he was a student athlete, worked two jobs and graduated with honors. In 2004, he earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While at Southern, he was the Articles Editor of the Southern University Law Center and graduated near the top of his class.
Chadwick began his legal career as a defense attorney in the areas of medical malpractice and insurance defense at a very large firm in New Orleans, Louisiana. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, he relocated to Columbia, South Carolina where he continued working as a defense lawyer for several colleges, universities and municipalities in the state. After missing crawfish boils and Southern and LSU football, he returned to Louisiana in 2008. Since then he has represented plaintiffs in class action lawsuits against mortgage companies and drug manufacturers and also served as in-house counsel for a large insurance company. He has a healthy trial experience and has first-hand knowledge about the practices of large insurance companies in the processing of liability claims, workers compensation claims and litigation.
Known affectionately by family and friends in the Hispanic community as "Carlos," Chadwick is fluent in Spanish and is passionate about service to others. He credits his dedication to service to his time enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Next to his sons, his passions are dancing bachata dominicana, playing the violin, vintage muscle cars and motorcycles.
Chadwick is admitted to practice before all State and Federal District courts in Louisiana.
