Robert J. Boughter was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He received his undergraduate degrees in criminology and Spanish magna cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Boughter also studied at the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain and El Centro Bilingue in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. Mr. Boughter is fluent in Spanish. While in Spain, he oversaw research of the success rate of Methadone programs offered to help heroine addicts throughout the country.
Following undergraduate school, Mr. Boughter served as a special agent with the Office of Inspector General, where he investigated and prosecuted fraud in governmental agencies. Mr. Boughter had a 100% conviction rate for the cases he investigated.
Mr. Boughter received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington. Following law school, Mr. Boughter worked for a prominent insurance defense firm in Northwest Indiana, where he defended trucking companies, municipalities, police officers, grocery stores, businesses and insurance companies from claims for personal injury, bad faith, and civil rights violations.
Mr. Boughter practices exclusively in the areas of plaintiff's personal injury, worker's compensation, insurance litigation and civil rights. He has successfully represented his clients and tried cases to verdict in several counties throughout the State of Indiana. In addition, Mr. Boughter serves as co-counsel in multiple complex litigation cases.
