Andrea Bonina began her legal career in 1992 by joining the family law firm founded by her father, John Anthony Bonina. From that time to the present her practice has concentrated almost exclusively on significant plaintiff's personal injury cases.
In 1995 she became partner in the firm, Bonina and Bonina, P.C., which she and her brother remain partners in today. Andrea is the managing partner of the firm, which handles medical malpractice, product liability, and other complex personal injury litigation. As the Partner responsible for management of both complex litigation and auto liability.
Andrea's courtroom success early in her career led to her promotion as Partner in charge of product liability matters.
She went on to handle national litigation, successfully taking
on huge corporations on behalf of injured clients. Andrea has obtained multiple seven figure settlements on behalf of clients injured by defective products, and she has been selected by "Super Lawyers" as one of the top plaintiff's product liability lawyers in the New York Area.
Andrea is in charge of daily management of product liability, construction, labor law, and all auto cases in the office. Her focus on providing quality, caring representation to the firm's clients is one of the reasons she obtained the highest possible rating from Martindale Hubbell for both ethics and skill.
Ms. Bonina is a frequent lecturer on litigation and practice management topics for mandatory continuing legal education. She is currently the President of the 2,2200 member Brooklyn Bar Association. She is a past president of the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association and sits on the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Her decision to practice law is an outgrowth of her commitment to helping others. As Co-Chair of an annual fund-raising drive for St. Jude Children's Hospital from 1992 through 2006, Andrea raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for children stricken with catastrophic diseases. Ms. Bonina is also a founder and co-chair of the annual Liz Padilla Memorial 5K race to benefit the Brooklyn Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyer Project. The race raises money to provide pro bono legal services and programs to needy Brooklyn residents.
Her charitable work resulted in her being given the "Woman of Valor Award" by the Institute of Jewish Humanities in 1997. Ms Bonina also received the Hon. William T. Bellard award in 2007 from the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Kings County.
Andrea has been repeatedly selected to SuperLawyers.
