HERMAN G. BODEWES
Herman G. Bodewes, one of the most senior attorneys at GWC&B, brings over 35 years of experience to bear on is client's legal needs. He practices in the areas of business law and planning, corporate representation of business and trade associations, financial institutions, governmental affairs, real estate, estate planning and probate law.
Herman entered private practice with Giffin, Winning, Cohen and Bodewes, P.C. in 1965. Herman has concentrated his practice in representation of trade associations, in legislative and governmental affairs and business.
For more than 30 years, Herman has and continues to be a registered lobbyist in the State of Illinois representing numerous businesses.
Herman served as a member of the Article 9 Financial Service Coalition in 1999-2000 during the rewrite of Article 9 to the Uniform Commercial Code. Herman has recently published an article in the Illinois Reporter, a magazine published by the Illinois League of Financial Institutions entitled "Privacy Provisions Under State Law." Mr. Bodewes also writes quarterly articles for a newspaper published by the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois.
Herman, with his extensive knowledge of the alcoholic beverage industry, drafted such legislation as the Illinois Beer Industry Fair Dealing Act; and, in conjunction with the banking industry, drafted the Illinois Savings Bank Act of 1990, as well as numerous other laws now in effect in Illinois.
