Michael David Bland earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University in 1974 and his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1978. Mr. Bland joined the firm as a partner in 1984. Mr. Bland is admitted to practice in the State Courts of both North Carolina and South Carolina, all of the United States District Courts in both North and South Carolina, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Bland has handled and tried cases in almost every area of business and tort litigation. Mr. Bland has handled major cases involving Real Property Rights, Intentional Torts, Copyright and Trademark Infringement, Unfair Competition, Price Fixing, Legal Malpractice, Consumer Litigation, Defamation, Medical Malpractice and Sexual Assault. Mr. Bland has won record jury verdicts in both State and Federal Courts and has successfully argued landmark cases before the North Carolina Supreme Court and North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Mr. Bland is an active member and Patron of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, a member of the American Association for Justice and a member of both the North Carolina and South Carolina Bars.
Mr. Bland was elected to serve four terms as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Matthews. He served as the Town's representative to the Charlotte Metropolitan Planning Organization. He has also served as a board member and officer on a number of community organizations including the Charlotte Soccer Club and the Matthews Help Center.
