Matthew A. Bisbee specializes in civil litigation. He handles matters involving allegations of medical malpractice, personal injury, elder abuse, premises liability, products liability, breach of contract, and civil rights violations against health care providers, governmental entities, homeowners and businesses.
Mr. Bisbee has tried four cases to verdict, including a bench trial and three jury trials in Santa Clara County Superior Court. His most recent jury trial involved claims for punitive damages and excess policy exposure, and resulted in a defense verdict. In state and federal court, Mr. Bisbee has prevailed on multiple motions for summary judgment.
Mr. Bisbee received his bachelor's degree in history from Georgetown University (with honors) in 1991. He earned his J.D. from the University of The Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in 1995. During 1995 and 1996, Mr. Bisbee clerked for the Ninth Judicial District Court in Douglas County, Nevada. In 1997, he was admitted to practice in California. From 1998 through April 2009, Mr. Bisbee was an attorney with Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley before commencing with Hayes, Scott, Bonino, Ellingson & McLay, LLP in May 2009.
Mr. Bisbee is a member of the Association of Defense Counsel for Northern California and Nevada. In addition, he is a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association and San Mateo County Bar Association.
