Attorney Bishop is a 1976 graduate of Colby College, Waterville, Maine and a 1979 graduate of New England Law/Boston, Boston, Massachusetts. He was admitted to practice law in 1979 and is licensed to practice before all Massachusetts courts, the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
As a trial lawyer, Attorney Bishop served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1979- 1984. He represented the Commonwealth in civil and criminal matters in the District, Superior. Appeals and Supreme Judicial Courts. Attorney Bishop left the Attorney General's Office to open his own law practice in 1984 where he focused on civil and family law matters. He also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth handling complex civil cases until 1987. In 2000, Attorney Bishop and Attorney John S. Reidy joined forces to create the law firm of Bishop & Reidy, P.C. One of the principal objectives of the firm is to provide expert legal advice and personal attention to their clients at every stage of engagement. Attorney Bishop continues to focus in the areas of plaintiff's personal injury and family law. He has collected over 10 million dollars for his clients in injury cases and regularly represents individuals in all phases of family law.
Attorney Bishop is a member of the Massachusetts, Boston and Quincy Bar Associations. He is an active participant in the Lawyer for the Day Program in the Norfolk County Probate Court and was a founding member of the Norfolk County Law Library Foundation. He has served on the Finance Committee in his home town of Westwood, Massachusetts and was a board member of the Advisory Committee to the Bentley College Paralegal Program. He has been active in the Noble and Greenough School, Colby College and Williams College Annual Funds and is a supporter of the Brown University Women's Lacrosse team. His spare time is spent with his wife and two children.
