I grew up in rural Eastern Iowa and attended the University of Iowa for both my undergraduate studies and also law school. I moved to Fairbanks, AK a week after law school graduation, driven by a sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors, to work as a Public Defender. While in Alaska much of my practice consisted of trial work and courtroom advocacy. I represented thousands of clients in a wide array of charges ranging from Fish and Game violations to Murder in the 1st Degree. Many of these cases involved complex litigation and were “high profile cases.” All told, I first-chaired 20 different criminal jury trials across the state of Alaska on charges as uncomplicated as underage drinking (PAULA) to more complex manslaughter, sex assault, weapons, and aggravated assault trials.
In the end, my wife and I decided we wanted to raise a family in Iowa. Consequently, we moved back to Iowa City and I started practicing at Hayes Lorenzen, where my practice consists of representation in both personal injury as well as criminal cases. I am privileged to work with such a great team here at Hayes Lorenzen. My experience getting results for clients on tough cases as well as my litigation experience should add to our clients’ expectations that they will receive excellent representation from Hayes Lorenzen.
