Kellie Bickel, a patent agent in the firm's Intellectual Property practice, focuses on patent prosecution in the biotechnology and medical device fields. She has a wide array of technical experience in the areas of nucleic acid and protein biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology.
Dr. Bickel has a wide array of technical experience in the areas of nucleic acid and protein biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology. In her doctorate research at the University of Washington, Seattle, she conducted research in the area of transcription and protein translation regulatory mechanisms, identifying a novel role for transcriptional activators in silencing protein production through altering the 5' structure of RNA transcripts. Other areas of research experience include studies in the coordination of cell growth and cell division, roles and regulation of oncogenes in human cells, cell adhesion and wound healing, and mechanisms of early cell identity and differentiation. During her graduate work, Dr. Bickel was the recipient of a National Science Foundation pre-doctoral fellowship and a Cellular and Molecular Biology, NIH pre-doctoral grant. In addition, she has taught advanced cell biology, graduate-level developmental biology, and physiology.
