Born in Connecticut, Jon is a graduate of Columbia University where he majored in Political Science. After working for several years on Wall Street, Jon returned to his native Connecticut where he graduated near the top of his class at the University of Connecticut School of Law. Prior to co-founding Collins Berman, P.C., Jon practiced family law for several years with C. Sean Stephens and Daniel Margolin, founding partners of Stephens Margolin, P.C. Shortly after passing the Oregon State Bar exam, Jon was employed as a staff attorney at the Washington County office of the St. Andrew Legal Clinic, a not-for-profit family law firm. Jon continues to contribute his time and energy raising money for St. Andrew, and he recently sat on the fund raising committee for the annual St. Andrew Legal Clinic Race for Justice.
As a family law attorney, Jon strives to make the often harrowing experiences associated with family law as effortless as possible for his clients, and for their families. Jon firmly believes that, in addition to being an advisor to and an advocate for, his clients, the practice of family law requires him to also be a supporter, cheerleader, a soothing voice, and even a friend. To be able to help his clients through this difficult period, to show them that their lives are not over, that their children will continue to thrive, particularly with their continued love and support, these are the things that drive Jon in his practice of family law. Prior to beginning his family law practice, Jon clerked for Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Michael McShane, who was recently elevated to the federal bench by President Barack Obama. Jon was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 2005. He is member of the Family Law Section of the Oregon State Bar and American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Multnomah County and Washington County Bar Associations.
Jon is an avid sports fan. He continues to root for his east coast teams, though he enjoys attending Blazers games, and he can often be found during the summer at Jeld Wen Field cheering on the Portland Timbers.
