THOMAS K. BERGER earned his B.A. degree from Washington and Lee University in 1971 and his J.D. degree from the University of Mississippi in 1974.
Mr. Berger's practice concentrates predominately on criminal and civil litigation. From 1974-1981 he was Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and was the First Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1981-1986. He has had considerable experience handling cases before Federal and Virginia courts and administrative agencies, including the defense of individuals and companies accused of federal and state criminal conduct, the representation of pilots before the Federal Aviation Administration and the representation of trucking companies in their regulatory compliance. He has been a member of the Medical Malpractice Review Panel of the Supreme Court of Virginia since 1985, and has been the Virginia State Chairman of the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association since 1993.
Mr. Berger is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States, the Virginia State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and the Mississippi State Bar.
Mr. Berger holds a United States Merchant Marine Master's License and a F.A.A Pilot's License, and is instrument-rated in Single-Engine Land, Multi-Engine Land, and Single-Engine Sea aircraft.
