Eric Berger was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1995 he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a double major in Government and Classical Languages. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Tulane University Law School in 1999, where he was the Senior Research Editor of the Sports Lawyers Journal. His article, "The Legal Problems of MP3s," was published by the Temple Environmental Law and Technology Journal in 1999 [18 Temp. Envtl. L. & Tech. J. 1], and was one of the first law journal articles in the country dealing with the legal intricacies of digital music downloading.
Mr. Berger was named a partner in January 2009. He is admitted to practice in all state courts of Louisiana and Texas and the Eastern and Middle Districts of Louisiana. He has also appeared in the Northern District of Mississippi and the Northern District of Illinois.
His practice areas include insurance defense, mass torts and complex litigation, product liability, property casualty litigation, insurance coverage, general civil litigation and premises liability. He has gained experience defending insurers and businesses in class, multi-party, and multi-district litigation arising from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, FEMA Trailer Formaldehyde Products Liability Litigation, and Chinese Drywall Products Liability Litigation.
