Berg, Nicholas Harold

Michael Benz received his Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law where he was a member of the Law Review. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Benz’ professional affiliations include memberships with the Illinois State Bar Association and the Lake County Bar Association.

Prior to joining the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd., Mr. Benz devoted more than 15 years to practicing matrimonial law, criminal defense and personal injury litigation. His talent and commitment to matrimonial law is well known from his impressive litigation track record of complicated cases. • Prevailed in obtaining a not guilty verdict after a heated trial defending a man falsely accused of aggravated sexual abuse involving his girlfriend’s 3 young children.
• Achieved change of custody in favor of a father after a hotly contested hearing where the mother abandoned the children, moved to California, and later tried to remove one of the children back to California by force.
• Succeeded representing a father in vacating a divorce decree which granted title to the marital residence to the mother.
