For 35 years, Peter Benvenutti has represented all significant constituencies in bankruptcy cases, restructurings, and insolvency-related litigation. Peter's clients include debtors, committees, reorganization trustees, commercial and investment banks, unsecured creditors, contract counterparties, asset acquirers, boards and investors, and parties in litigation; and he advises clients on insolvency issues in a broad range of transactions and industries.
Peter's representative clients at Jones Day include Lehman Brothers Holdings (as cross-border secured creditor and plaintiff in litigation), Plant Insulation Company (debtor in possession), Thorpe Insulation Company Creditors' Committee, Wells Fargo Bank, and a major professional services firm facing significant investor claims following the insolvency of the firm's client. Before joining Jones Day, Peter's representations included Bradley Sharp as chapter 11 trustee of Software Logistics, Frederick Wyle as chapter 11 trustee of Garden City Casino, Credit Agricole, Jomed Inc. (debtor in possession), Pacific Gas & Electric Company, WorldCom, Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Creditors' Committee, Credit Suisse/DLJ, Winterland Concessions Company (debtor in possession), Foster Farms (as distressed asset acquirer), Bank of America, Founders (Old Republic) Title Company, and Johns Manville.
Peter is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and former president of the California Bankruptcy Forum. He recently served on the Northern District's local bankruptcy rules revision committee and served in various positions in the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, including chair of district delegation and member of the Conference Executive Committee and Circuit Advisory Board. He also serves as chair of the dissolution committee of Heller Ehrman, his former law firm.
