Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Bennett served as staff attorney for the DePaul University College of Law International Human Rights Law Institute. While at the Institute, Mr. Bennett coordinated its project in support of the United Nations Commission of Experts, which was established to investigate crimes against humanity in the former Yugoslavia. In 1994, Mr. Bennett moved to the City Colleges of Chicago where he served as staff attorney specializing in traditional labor law. He joined Laner, Muchin, Dombrow, Becker, Levin and Tominberg, Ltd. in 1997, and became a partner in 2003.
Mr. Bennett has been labor and employment counsel to public and privately owned entities throughout the United States, including such diverse employers as the State of Illinois, University of Illinois, Governors State University, City of Chicago Heights, Penn Aluminum International, Inc., Freudenberg Household Products, and Stanaszek Goodwin Design Partnerships to name a few. Mr. Bennett has represented management in numerous cases before the National Labor Relations Board, the Illinois Labor Relations Board, the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and labor arbitrators throughout the country. Mr. Bennett has taught courses on labor relations at Benedictine University, has been a guest speaker on labor and employment issues in education at the Chicago-Kent School of Law Public Sector Labor Law Forum, and has conducted seminars for management personnel on legal and practical employment relations matters.
