Tom Benjamin has had an active civil practice for the past 19 years. From 1970 to 1984 he practiced poverty law in Maine, Vermont and Washington State, and held various legal service positions including Litigation Director in Maine and director of the farm worker divisions in Maine and Washington State. In Maine he is now of Counsel to the firm Reben, Benjamin & March.
Throughout his career Mr. Benjamin has had extensive trial and appellate experience in both the State and Federal Courts in Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Washington State. His trial and appellate experience has focused upon complex civil rights, labor and personal injury law. He also has had an active practice in the areas of discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Workers' Compensation, and Social Security.
His cases have included providing civil rights relief for mentally ill welfare recipients, female correctional officers, a special police officer, Hispanic American citizens, agricultural workers, prison inmates, workers' compensation recipients, and city employees.
