Taurus Becton focuses on workers' compensation law. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law, he worked for one of the largest insurance defense firms in North Carolina, primarily representing employers in workers' compensation cases. This experience has given him a keen appreciation for workers’ compensation law from both sides of the table.
Taurus Becton also is a Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law. Board Certified Specialists are lawyers certified by the N.C. State Bar as having demonstrated special knowledge, skill and proficiency in a specific area of law. The certification process for workers’ compensation law requires at least 5 years of substantial involvement practicing workers’ compensation law, completing 36 hours of CLE credits in workers’ compensation and related legal fields, a satisfactory review by legal peers and passing a comprehensive written exam.
Taurus has handled hundreds of workers' compensation claims, has tried many cases before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, and has taken several cases to the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Even as a defense attorney, Taurus remained aware of and sensitive to the concerns and unique position of a plaintiff. He ultimately determined that representing injured workers who are in need of legal representation would be the most rewarding way to practice law.
Taurus attends World Overcomers Christian Church, participates in Lunch With A Lawyer Mentorship Program, and does community Pro-Bono.
