Charles Beene is a counsel in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the Government and Regulatory Litigation and Investigations and Criminal Litigation Practice Groups. He joined the firm in 2004.

Practice

Mr. Beene has a general litigation practice with a focus on international litigation and investigations. He has represented clients in international disputes raising issues including enforcement of foreign judgments, controversies in foreign legal systems and investor-state disputes. Mr. Beene has also represented individuals and public and private companies in civil and criminal matters before federal courts, administrative agencies and congressional committees. His representative matters include:

• Represented a major US corporation in obtaining summary judgment declaring unenforceable in the United States a half-billion dollar foreign money judgment.
• Represented a US pharmaceutical company in high-stakes litigation in foreign courts raising issues of judicial corruption.
• Represented a former chief financial officer of a major software company in a criminal securities fraud prosecution brought by the US Department of Justice.
• Represented a former defense industry chief executive in connection with a US Department of Justice public corruption investigation.
