Elwood Becton has over thirty years of legal experience. He has been in private practice since 1983, focusing on litigation on behalf of injured individuals and their families. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law and Duke University with a Master of Arts in Public Policy Sciences, he moved to Raleigh with his wife and three children, Dekhasta, Marcus and Taurus, where he became a Visiting Lecturer and Legal Advisor at NC State University. During his time at NC State University, he gave legal advice and conducted legal programs for student body of over 20,000 college students, taught a course in Law in Higher Education, was instrumental in organizing the Peer Mentor Program, the Academic Achievement Awards Program and the Black Alumni Group, serving as the latter’s first President. Elwood is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, and is committed to helping injured people in and out of the courtroom.
He is a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church.
