Joe Beauchamp focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and client counseling. He has acted as lead lawyer at trial. He has successfully argued and defended against requests for emergency relief, including motions for temporary restraining orders and motions for preliminary injunctions. In addition, he has successfully argued patent claim construction and summary judgment motions before various courts across the United States.
Joe regularly advises clients regarding the procurement, management, and licensing of intellectual property assets. He recently managed the worldwide patent portfolio for a client's polymer coatings. He also has led negotiations and overseen due diligence in mergers and asset purchases.
Joe's experience covers a broad spectrum of technologies, with a particular focus on oil field tools, polymer chemistry, and software. Joe also has experience with technologies involving coal extraction and processing, computer hardware, printers, medical devices, cellular telephones, and a wide variety of consumer products, including watches, candles, cosmetics, shampoos, and air fresheners.
Joe has repeatedly been recognized as a "Texas Rising Star," a select group of attorneys chosen by Texas Super Lawyers, Law & Politics magazine, and the publishers of Texas Monthly. In addition, Joe has authored articles and spoken at conferences on various issues of intellectual property law.
Prior to attending law school, Joe was an environmental engineer for a division of ABB, one of the world's largest power companies. He is a current officer and former board member for the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association.
