Bassi, Marte J

William K. Bass received his Juris Doctorate cum laude from the University of Toledo. He received the prestigious Burton R. Maddux Scholarship for academic achievement and was inducted into the Order of the Coif, legal education’s equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa.

Prior to joining The Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd., Mr. Bass concentrated in complex commercial litigation, product liability, partnership disputes and family law at a large firm in Chicago where he subsequently developed an overriding interest in family law.

Mr. Bass is a veteran trial and appellate attorney with an impressive track record who concentrates entirely in the area of matrimonial law. He’s an aggressive advocate for the rights of his clients in both pre and post-decree domestic relations and paternity cases. Mr. Bass has litigated complicated cases in the State Court, Appellate Court and the United States District Court and is highly experienced in the drafting of pre and post-nuptial agreements.

Previously divorced with four children, Mr. Bass is determined to effectively protect the rights of his clients and is always prepared to fight for those rights to the fullest extent of the law.

• Successfully handled numerous intricate divorce cases where the parties had millions of dollars in assets.
• Attained guardianship of a six-month old child for the grandmother when he found the mother and father were unfit to care for the child.
• Succeeded in having an Illinois court order the immediate return of three minor children living with their mother in Florida to be with their father in Illinois where they still reside with him today.
• Convinced a Michigan court not to exercise jurisdiction over minor children who had recently moved from Michigan to Illinois to be with their mother.
• Garnered sole custody for a father who six months earlier only had supervised visitation with his minor child.
• Obtained immediate parenting time for a father when the mother refused to allow him to see his three-month old twins.
• Successfully defended clients in order of protection proceedings where he convinced the judges to dismiss proceedings before even presenting his client’s cases.
