Christopher Barrows received his license to practice law in 1999. He then joined the law firm of Cambell, Kyle and Proffitt where he practiced both family and criminal law. Mr. Barrows joined Phelps & Fara in 2001 where he began to practice family law exclusively. Currently, Mr. Barrows is Of Counsel with the law firm of Avery & Cheerva LLP where he limits his practice to family law. Mr. Barrows is a Registered Family Law Mediator, and a Certified Family Law Specialist-Family Law Certification Board. Mr. Barrows has been instrumental in the inception of the use of Parenting Coordinators to reduce family conflict in Indiana. He regularly assists with the training of Parent Coordinators and was involved in drafting model orders for use by Indiana courts. He has also provided testimony to members of the Indiana General Assembly regarding the development of legislation in that area, as well as other family law matters. Mr. Barrows is currently serving on the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts Taskforce on Court Involved Therapists assisting in drafting guidelines appropriate for counselors and therapists involved in family law cases. Mr. Barrows has been named as one of Indiana's Rising Stars by Law and Politics Magazine since 2009.
