Barker, Mark E.

Ben received his law degree with honors from the SMU Dedman School of Law, where he was Assistant Managing Editor for the International Law Review and a tutor for Federal Civil Procedure. While in law school, he received trial experience representing indigent criminal defendants while volunteering for the school’s criminal clinic, and worked for Ted B. Lyon & Associates as a law clerk.

Prior to his career as an attorney, Ben was a QC underwriting analyst for a finance firm that specialized in evaluating and performing due diligence on mortgage portfolios targeted for acquisition and securitization. This demanded an unwavering attention to the transactional details of pricing and compliance issues, and provided experience in identifying, evaluating, and solving specific problems while simultaneously considering the client’s broader, long-term goals. These same skills have transferred to Ben’s legal practice.

While at the Law Firm of Ted Lyon & Associates, Ben has played an important role in a number of key cases at both the trial and appellate level.
