Heather Barber is a trial lawyer specializing in civil litigation in state and federal courts. Most recently, Heather worked on a team that obtained reversal of a $56.7 million tax assessment against a Fortune 500 company in a writ of mandate trial. The three-year battle involved extensive briefing on statutory interpretation, state and federal constitutional issues, the scope of municipal authority, statute of limitations, and the equitable doctrines of laches and estoppel.
Heather routinely defends one of the three major credit reporting agencies against claims brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. She has managed discovery, including taking depositions and serving and responding to discovery requests. She has obtained favorable results for many of these claims by negotiating settlements and drafting dispositive motions.
Prior to attending law school, Heather spent seven years in the advertising sales and marketing fields. Her business experience ranges from managing the advertising needs of automotive clients to overseeing marketing efforts targeting Fortune 100 companies.
Heather is author of "Developments in the Law: Federal Jurisdiction and Forum Selection: Removal and Remand," 37 Loyola L.A. Law Review 1555 (2004).
