Education.

As a senior in high school, Brian attended the University of Minnesota Crookston, as a Post Secondary Education Option (P.S.E.O.) student. As a P.S.E.O. student, Brian was a member of the Chancellor's 4.0 Club and listed on the Dean's List. Subsequent to graduating from high school in May of 2000, Brian attended the University of North Dakota, College of Business and Public Administration. As an undergraduate student, Brian was listed on the President's Roll of Honor and the Dean's List. Brian was also awarded the Arthur P. Anderson Scholarship and the D.J. Robertson Academic Award. Brian was an officer and member of Pi Sigma Alpha, a member of the Public Affairs Club, and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. While enrolled as an undergraduate student, Brian began successfully completing graduate coursework in the Master of Public Administration graduate program at the University of North Dakota, Graduate School. In May of 2003, Brian was conferred a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and a Minor in Political Science.

In August of 2003, Brian attended law school at the University of North Dakota, School of Law. While attending law school, Brian clerked for Galstad, Jensen & McCann, P.A. and continued to successfully complete courses in the Master of Public Administration graduate program. Brian was a member of the Student Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the Student Bar Association, a member and officer of Delta Theta Phi, and participated in Moot Court. Brian also attended mediation training in the summer of 2004. In May of 2006, Brian was conferred a Juris Doctor.

In December of 2010, Brian had completed all of the requirements of the Master of Public Administration graduate program, including writing a comprehensive exam and preparing a written independent study of publishable quality, and was conferred a Master of Public Administration.

Experience.

Brian was employed as a law clerk with a law student limited practice license in Minnesota and North Dakota and associate attorney for Galstad, Jensen & McCann, P.A., from December of 2004 to May of 2010. As a law clerk and practicing attorney, Brian assisted in the practice of and practiced Estate Planning, Municipal Law, Contract Law, and Family Law. In May of 2010, Brian took a sabbatical from the practice of law to complete the Master of Public Administration graduate program and to gain administrative experience. From May of 2010 to November of 2011, Brian was employed by the Redwood County Environmental Office as a Land Use and Zoning Supervisor. As a Land Use and Zoning Supervisor, Brian gained extensive experience in land use, planning, zoning, and environmental law. Brian routinely worked with local, state and federal government agencies on numerous environmental matters. Brian was a member of the Minnesota Association of County Planning and Zoning Administrators and a member of the Minnesota Association of Floodplain Managers, In December of 2011, Brian elected to return to the practice of law and presently practices Estate Planning, Municipal Law, Environmental Law, and Contract Law. Brian is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Dakota Bar Association, and the Greater Grand Forks County Bar Association.
