Michael L. Bangs is a 1976 graduate of Trinity High School, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and received his B.A. Degree in 1980 from Hobart College. He graduated with a J.D. degree in 1984 from the Dickinson School of Law, now the Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Bangs was associated with and a partner of Andes, Vaughn & Bangs from 1984 until 1995. In 1995 he opened his own law practice of Bangs Law Office which is located in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. In 2003 he entered into an Of Counsel relationship with William E. Miller, Jr., Esquire. In 2007 he acquired his associate broker's real estate license and is affiliated with Lawyer's Realty, LLC in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania and is also affiliated to provide title insurance through Assured Land Transfers, Inc.
Mr. Bangs focuses his practice on the representation of businesses; real estate, both commercial and residential; and estate planning and administration. Mr. Bangs is an experience litigator having been involved in multiple commercial and other disputes which have resulted in verdicts or settlements in excess of $1,000,000. His extensive litigation background brings a unique perspective and service to his clients in that he can understand how to avoid litigation but can protect his clients if it becomes necessary. In real estate matters, he not only has the extensive experience but also is a licensed realtor and is an associate broker with Lawyer's Realty, LLC. This provides a valuable added service to his clients in the acquisition and negotiation of the purchases of both residential and commercial real estate. In the areas of estate planning and estate administration, Mr. Bangs has been providing counseling to individuals for twenty-five years.
Mr. Bangs, through his career, has received several professional appointments recognizing his abilities and qualifications. In 1996 he was appointed as a Hearing Examiner by the Governor of Pennsylvania's Office of General Counsel. The appointment continues to the present time. In that role he conducts hearings, renders decisions and prepares written opinions and recommendations for various appeals made by individuals to numerous state agencies. In 1995 President Judge Harold E. Sheely tapped him to serve as a custody conciliator for Cumberland County, the third such appointment in the history of the program. In that role he made recommendations and interim orders for custody disputes before the Court of Common Pleas of Cumberland County. He resigned that position in July, 2000. In 1986, the Chief Public Defender of Cumberland County appointed him as a part-time trial assistant. He resigned that position in 1989. During his tenure, he received numerous accolades from the Chief Public Defender for his representation of indigent clients in criminal matters which ran the gamut from summary offenses to representation of an individual in a death penalty case which at the time was the longest death penalty case in the history of Cumberland Country.
Mr. Bangs is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, all other state courts, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and participates in the Civil Litigation Section and the Probate and Estates Section. He is also a member of the Cumberland County Bar Association and serves on the Alternate Resolution Dispute Committee and the Probate and Real Estate Committee. Mr. Bangs has been involved in numerous charitable and community organizations over the years and currently serves on the Harrisburg Area Community College Foundation and the Douglas W. Pollock Foundation.
