Mr. Balough actively participates in the legal community. He is co-chair of the mCommerce Subcommittee of the American Bar Association's Cyberspace Law Committee. He has also served on the board of managers of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago and as chair of the Chicago Bar Association's Computer Law Committee. His articles on e-commerce and privacy have appeared in the ABA Business Law Journal, Illinois Bar Journal, Chicago Law Bulletin, Illinois legal Times, and Marketing News. He has authored a chapter on copyrights for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Educattion. He has masters of law degrees cum laude in both Intellectual Property and Information Technology and Privacy Law.
Professional Legal Experience
Prior to the formation of Balough Law Offices, LLC, Richard Balough served a similar client base as a solo practitioner in Chicago and served as counsel for a statewide consumer advocacy in Illinois. He previously was in private practice in Austin, Texas, and early in his career served as assistant city attorney for the City of Austin. Before transitioning to a career in the law, he was a journalist and newspaper editor.
