Ms. Banford is an associate attorney at Coleman & Chambers, LLP and practices in the area of Family law. Ms. Banford joined the firm in 2008 after completing her Juris Doctorate at Stetson College of Law. Ms. Banford is licensed to practice law in both Georgia and Florida.
Ms. Banford provides representation to clients and supports our family law partners Bob Coleman and Candace Williams in all areas of family practice such as: divorce (uncontested and contested), child custody, visitation, child support, division of property, alimony and spousal support; modification of custody, visitation, and child support; modification of alimony and spousal support; legitimation and paternity actions (uncontested and contested); domestic violence, temporary protective orders and restraining orders; grandparent visitation actions; and pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements.
Ms. Banford is a hands-on attorney who is accessible to her clients. As a laywer in family law, Ms. Banford handles a large variety of cases throughout Northeast Georgia, including Hall County (Gainesville, Clermont, Gillsville, Oakwood, Flowery Branch, Chestnut Mountain, Murrayville), Dawson County (Dawsonville), White County (Cleveland, Helen), Habersham County (Cornelia, Demorest, Clarksville, Baldwin), Stephens County (Toccoa), Rabun County (Clayton, Dillard), Lumpkin County (Dahlonega), Union County (Blairsville), Jackson County (Jefferson, Braselton, Maysville, Hoschton), Gwinnett County (Lawrenceville, Buford, Sugar Hill, Suwanee, Dacula), Forstyh County (Cumming), Towns County (Hiawassee), Barrow County (Winder, Auburn, Bethlehem), Cherokee County (Canton), Cobb County and Fulton County. Family law is an emotional process, and Ms. Banford is dedicated to providing each client with the best possible resources available to resolve their case. Ms. Banford was raised on a farm in Winder, Georgia and is a graduate of Winder Barrow High School. Ms Banford went on to receive her Bachelor's of Science degree in Conflict Resolution and Legal Studies from Brenau University Women's College, in Gainesville, Georgia. She represented Brenau University at the 2003 National Mock Mediation Tournament in Chicago, where her team placed 3rd in the national competition. She was recognized as an All-American Mediator and received the Top Advocate-Client award. While attending Brenau, Ms. Banford was also actively involved in Chi Omega sorority and Student Government Association.
Ms. Banford attended Stetson University College of Law in Florida, where she served as a Stetson Ambassador and the Student Bar Association Vice President. She participated in Stetson's Prosecution Clinic in the Juvenile Division of the State Attorney's Office, where she had the opportunity to present cases for the State of Florida. She also interned for the Honorable Judge Irene Sullivan in the juvenile division of the Unified Family Court in the Sixth Circuit. Ms. Banford returned to Georiga and interned with the Georgia Legal Services Program in Athens and Gainesville. Ms. Banford had the opportunity to travel to The Hague, Netherlands, Freiburg, Germany to attend the Summer Institute in International and Comparative Law. She also visited Spain and Italy. Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Banford received the Stetson Leadership Certificate and was recognized for her dedication to the community by receiving the Thomas E. Penick, Jr. Award for Community Service.
When she is not practicing law, Ms. Banford enjoys being outdoors and kayaking. Ms. Banford spends time giving back to the Legal Studies Department at Brenau University. Ms. Banford serves on the Advisory Board and enjoys judging at Brenau's annual Mock Mediation Tournament.
