Stephen M. Bander graduated from the Joint Degree Program at the New York University School of Law leading to a J.D./LL.M. (in Taxation). He received his B.A. from the University of Virginia where he majored in International Relations with a concentration in Latin American Affairs and minored in Economics. While there, Mr. Bander was elected to membership in the Raven Society, the University's oldest honorary society. Mr. Bander is a member of both the Florida Bar and the New York Bar. Mr. Bander is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Mr. Bander is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Throughout his career, Mr. Bander has brought more than 75 federal district court actions against federal administrative agencies. His successful federal district court litigation and administrative appeal in Matter of Buschini (June 30, 2006) resulted in a USCIS Administrative Appeals Office Adopted Decision that expanded the list of documents that people born to Cuban parents outside Cuba can use to apply for permanent residency in the United States and helped thousands of Cuban nationals who have been turned down for green cards in the past. In 2008, he was a panelist at the 2008 Florida Bar's Annual Immigration Law Update on Federal Court Redress for Adjudication Delays.
