Matthew Lee Baldwin was born in Northwestern Colorado and raised in Miami, Florida. He graduated from Duke University in 2003 with a degree in Political Science, earning Distinction for his senior honors thesis on U.S. national security strategy. He attended Wake Forest University Law School, where he was a member of the National Trial Team and President of the school's Federalist Society chapter. Upon graduation in 2006, he was inducted into the national Order of Barristers and joined the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office as an Assistant State Attorney. As a criminal prosecutor, he prosecuted a wide variety of crimes before specializing in homicides as a Felony Division Chief. He has substantial jury trial experience, including experience as lead counsel in several cases featured in the national media. Prior to joining the firm, he was selected as the inaugural recipient of the League of Prosecutor’s “Prosecutor of the Year” award.
