James Baker graduated from Cornell University Law School in May of 1980, and was admitted to practice law in New York State in January of 1981. He was subsequently admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Western District of New York, in 1984, and in the Northern District of New York in 1987.
In the years since he was admitted to the bar, James Baker has been engaged in the general practice of law, concentrating on his interest in criminal litigation. In addition to being a member of the New York State and the Tompkins County Bar Associations, James Baker is a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the New York State Defender's Association. James Baker was a founding member of, and the first Chairman of, the Tompkins County Criminal Justice Association which was formed in 1992.
James Baker and his family have resided in the Fingerlakes Region of New York State since 1977. His practice focuses on protecting the rights and interests of individuals.
