Taurus Bailey is a 1995 graduate of the University of Tennessee and a 2002 graduate of the Nashville School of Law. Taurus worked with the Tennessee Department of Treasury, and later clerked with the State of Tennessee Office of the Attorney General. He is licensed to practice in all Tennessee courts including the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. He is a member of the Memphis Bar Association, American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, TACDL and the St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyer Guild.
Taurus currently works part-time as an Assistant Public Defender with the Shelby County Public Defender and as a member of the Federal Criminal Justice Act Panel helping indigent defendants.
He has advised state legislators on the issue of felons owning inherently dangerous animals.
He is married, a competitive athlete and a lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Taurus Bailey is fluent in Spanish and has assisted judges and attorneys with Spanish-speaking defendants.
