Sara has longstanding connections to Denton County, where her family has owned and operated businesses and real estate for over 15 years. She graduated from Denton Ryan High School in 1999 and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. After a brief return to Denton in 2003 to help expand a family business, Sara moved to the Pacific Northwest to attend Lewis and Clark Law School. During law school she was selected for a position with the United States District Court, District of Oregon, working for the Hon. Paul Papak. She earned her Juris Doctor and a Certificate in Natural Resources Law in 2007.
Upon graduation from law school, Sara was employed by the Cowlitz Indian Tribe of Washington as the Program Coordinator for the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). In that capacity, Sara successfully represented numerous Northwest Indian Tribes in sensitive negotiations with various museums and the National Park Service, eventually securing the Tribes' rights to their cultural property.
In 2009, Sara returned to Texas and was admitted to the Texas Bar. Drawing on many years of experience in business operations, Sara opened a law practice focusing on family law, property law and small business matters. She joined Duane L. Coker and Associates in 2010, where her practice areas include family law, estate planning, and property law. Her legal philosophy is to provide value-added representation and effective solutions for her clients. Sara is a certified mediator, attorney ad litem, and guardian ad litem. She is a member of the Denton County Bar Association's Real Estate, Property and Trust Section, the Texas State Bar, the Texas State Bar Pro Bono College, and the American Bar Association.
In her free time, Sara enjoys spending time outdoors kayaking, hiking and camping, and spending time with family and friends. She is also an avid reader and writer. As a lifelong student of history and languages, she is currently working on a manuscript about ancient civilizations and language.
