Julian Baer is a Policy Advisor at OFW Law. Before joining the firm in September of 2005, Julian worked for the House Education and Workforce Committee and the Food Marketing Institute. During his time on Capitol Hill, Julian worked for then-Chairman and current House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), focusing on early childhood education and welfare, community, and federal nutrition assistance program issues. Julian played an integral role in the 2004 reauthorization of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act and the Child Nutrition Act of 1966. In this capacity, he worked with both sides of the aisle and a multitude of food, nutrition, and advocacy organizations to develop the bi-partisan Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 that passed both Chambers by unanimous consent. At the Food Marketing Institute, Julian worked with the trade association members and government relations directors to further the retail food/grocery industry public policy goals through legislative and political activity. He has also served as Director of Nutrition affairs for FoodMinds, LLC, assessing federal food, agriculture and nutrition policy and forecasting implications for food industry members and associations.
Julian grew up outside of Ithaca, in upstate New York, and is a 2002 graduate of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. At OFW Law, Julian focuses on providing government relations services to trade associations; cooperatives; and food, agriculture, and nutrition industry members.
