Melissa Bailey is an associate in the litigation department of the firm. Ms. Bailey concentrates her practice in the areas of municipal and county liability, zoning and land use litigation, professional negligence, and commercial litigation.
A native of Fitzgerald Georgia, Ms. Bailey graduated summa cum laude in 2009 from Georgia Southern University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. While attending Georgia Southern, Ms. Bailey served as a SOAR Leader, a member of the University Judicial Board, and an ambassador for the University Honors Program. Ms. Bailey was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society and the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honors Society. As a senior, Ms. Bailey received the Senator Paul Coverdell Memorial Scholarship and worked as a legislative intern to Congressman Phil Gingrey in Washington, D.C.
Upon earning her undergraduate degree, Ms. Bailey attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor cum laude in 2012. While at the University of Georgia, Ms. Bailey was a member of the Moot Court team. She was a member of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law team, where she received individual oralist and best brief awards. Ms. Bailey also competed in Vienna, Austria as a member of the Vis International Arbitration team, which placed ninth in the world out of nearly 300 teams and second among the American delegation. Ms. Bailey was also a member of the Gray’s Inn team, which competed in London, England. Ms. Bailey was inducted into the National Order of Barristers, and she was chosen as a third year pupil in the Joseph Henry Lumpkin Inn of Court.
Ms. Bailey is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Savannah Bar Association.
