Azita Avedissian is a principal at Phillips Lerner, A Law Corporation. With close to 20 years of experience, Ms. Avedissian has focused her practice exclusively in the area of family law. She represents a multitude of high net worth individuals in the business sector and entertainment industry in all aspects of complex marital dissolution and paternity matters, including highly contested cases involving custody evaluations, child and spousal support, as well as complex business valuations. A seasoned litigator, Ms. Avedissian has also had significant success in resolving cases through Alternate Dispute Resolution avenues, such as mediation.
Prior to joining Phillips Lerner in 2002, Ms. Avedissian was a senior associate at two preeminent boutique law firms in Beverly Hills, specializing in family law (the Law Offices of Norman Dolin and Kolodny & Anteau), where she exclusively litigated complex and high profile matrimonial matters.
Ms. Avedissian is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor's Degree in political science and a minor in psychology. Ms. Avedissian earned her Juris Doctor from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. As part of her specialized education, Ms. Avedissian attended the International Law Program through the Dickinson School of Law at the University of Florence, Italy, concentrating in comparative and international family law studies. Ms. Avedissian holds a Baccalaureate degree in French literature and philosophy from the Academy of Caen, France, and has also completed specialized studies in French literature through the Sorbonne University of Paris, France.
Ms. Avedissian is a present member of the California, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Armenian Bar Associations and has been admitted before the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Ms. Avedissian is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, where she contributes to organizing the Sections' Continuing Education Programs. Ms. Avedissian is also actively involved in Phillips Lerner's continuing education as well as its community outreach programs.
Ms. Avedissian is fluent in French, Farsi (Persian), and Armenian and brings the interplay of her multicultural background to her practice. Ms. Avedissian is actively involved in her community with various charitable organizations and volunteers her time as a member of the Board of Regents of the Armenian Prelacy, which oversees 11 private schools in Southern and Northern California.
