Attorney Andrea Aycinena joined the Firm as an associate in 2010 and focuses her practice on advising and representing individuals, families and the public sector in the areas of guardianships, probate, special education, and related litigation.
Prior to joining Hickman & Lowder, she practiced as an attorney in Chicago, Illinois in the areas of general civil litigation and appeals, with a focus on will and trust contests, probate litigation, guardianship litigation, and estate administration. She also has experience litigating property, contract and tort disputes, civil rights actions, and employment discrimination actions. In addition to representing individuals and families, Andrea represented financial institutions and medical institutions.
While practicing in Chicago, she served on the Board of Directors and as Communications Secretary for the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois. She served as an educational project chair on the planning committee for Women Everywhere: Partners in Service Project, and worked to expose young inner city girls to the benefits of education and service to the community. She was also a member of the Hispanic Provider Council helping develop initiatives for the elderly in Hispanic communities.
Andrea received her Juris Doctor in 2003 from DePaul University College of Law where she received the Cali Award for Excellence in Legal Writing, was a Dean's Scholar, a staff writer for the Journal of Health Care Law, Secretary for the Women's Bar Association of Illinois (DePaul Chapter), and a member of the Latino Law Student Association. Andrea also studied Human Rights and Comparative Law at the Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Andrea attended Miami University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with a minor in Anthropology.
Andrea was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and speaks fluent Spanish. She is currently a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan and Ohio State Bar Associations.
