Luke Andrews maintains a broad-based commercial litigation and trial practice, with lead counsel experience in jury trials, federal appeals, and arbitration and administrative hearings. Luke's substantive experience includes:
• products liability and personal injury matters
• trade secret, unfair competition, and restrictive covenant matters
• complex commercial disputes, including construction, commercial real estate, federal and state securities, and corporate governance
• representation of health care providers seeking authorization to provide or commence the operation of health care facilities in the state of Georgia
• ERISA litigation and other first party insurance matters and
• consumer litigation, including consumer class actions.
Luke has served as lead counsel at jury trials in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the Superior Court of Habersham County, Georgia and has presented oral argument in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Luke has also appeared as lead counsel in the federal courts of Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Nebraska, and South Carolina.
Luke works extensively with expert witnesses in varied disciplines, both assisting experts for Jones Day clients and challenging opponents' experts, and is versed in the substantive law and practical considerations surrounding expert witnesses. Since 2003, Luke has devoted much of his practice to working with and against experts in such fields as psychology and neuropsychology, toxicology, epidemiology, pediatric medicine, health care planning, analytical chemistry, and microscopy—including expert discovery and discovery disputes, Daubert motions, and many expert depositions and trial examinations.
Luke has written and lectured (with Jones Day partner David Monde) on the law of employee raiding in Georgia and on trade secret law. He has also served as a guest faculty member for the Kessler-Eidson Trial Techniques Program at the Emory University School of Law.
