Howard K. Alperin is a partner with over 20 years of litigation and trial experience in state, federal and bankruptcy courts. Mr. Alperin also has an extensive transactional practice, giving him the unique ability to handle all facets of his clients' ongoing litigation and transactional needs.
Mr. Alperin's litigation practice includes the representation of individuals and corporations in complex business, entertainment, and intellectual property litigation matters, including those relating to unfair competition, false and deceptive trade practices, media torts (including misappropriation of name and likeness, defamation and invasion of privacy), securities/consumer fraud class action litigation and a broad range of other corporate and commercial litigation matters. Mr. Alperin has also successfully prosecuted and defended S.L.A.P.P. (strategic lawsuit against public participation) motions, and he has been involved in the representation of both companies and individuals in employment litigation matters.
Mr. Alperin has represented numerous defendants (and has counseled numerous others) in connection with litigation involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Trade Commission and Department of Corporations in securities/business fraud cases. Additionally, Mr. Alperin has handled numerous federal and state court appeals relating to these matters.
Mr. Alperin's transactional practice focuses on the representation of talent agencies, entertainment production companies, recording artists, as well as advertising, marketing and promotion companies. He handles a large variety of business matters for his clients, including the preparation and negotiation of various entertainment industry agreements and employment agreements. Mr. Alperin also advises and counsels clients in connection with their acquisition and sale of businesses.
