Altman, Joshua D.

Mr. Allman is a sixteen year attorney who focuses his practice on general health law, including all areas of regulatory compliance on the federal and state levels, healthcare risk management, and litigation. Mr. Allman provides practical solutions and advice regarding multifaceted healthcare law issues, in an environment where the law is ever-changing. In his practice, he has provided his clients, which have included major regional medical centers, small community hospitals and individual physician offices practical risk avoidance and results as well as representation in court on a variety of issues. Additionally, Mr. Allman's expertise in areas of strict government regulation, such as Stark, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act and HIPAA can assist in the defense of professional liability matters, as those matters become increasingly complex in today's environment.

Mr. Allman is also an experienced litigator. He has defended both corporations and individuals in a wide variety of legal matters, including defending medical malpractice cases, employment law matters, Medicaid and Medicare matters, and other billing and third-party matters, including collections and general civil litigation. Additionally, because he spent eight years in a hospital setting in a risk management/general counsel role, he has extensive claims experience in handling all types of insurance claims from the hospital perspective.

Mr. Allman is also a frequent lecturer to physician groups, residents, nurses and risk managers on a variety of healthcare topics. He was the President of the Michigan Society of Healthcare Risk Management in 2011-2012, having previously served on the Board of Directors and as the Co-Chair of their Education Committee. He is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan - Health Law Section, the American Health Lawyers Association, Oakland County Bar Association and the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, for which he is the 2012-2013 Chair of the Advocacy Task Force. Mr. Allman was named a Michigan Super Lawyer Rising Star for 2010.

Mr. Allman is a 1996 graduate of Wayne State University Law School and a 1992 graduate of Hope College.
