William R. Allen, Ph.D. is a Partner with Wood, Herron & Evans and is involved in all phases of the firm's intellectual property practice. His expertise is concentrated in the areas of materials, mechanical and electrical technologies. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 2000, and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Bill joined Wood, Herron & Evans as an attorney in 1999. Before attending law school, he was employed for over ten years as a physicist performing materials research at three federal materials research laboratories.
Bill graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree in both Physics & Mathematics from Emory & Henry College in 1980 and graduated with a Ph.D. in Physics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986. He graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 1999.
Bill is a past adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in the department of Materials Science and Engineering and was honored in 1987 by Emory & Henry College as Young Alumnus of the Year. Bill is an active member of the American, Ohio and Cincinnati Bar Associations and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He resides in Fort Thomas, Kentucky with his wife Kathryn.
