Jacob Allen is a born and raised resident of Rochester, Minnesota. He attended Wheaton College (IL) and graduated in 1997 with a B.A. in Business/Economics and a minor in Political Science. Mr. Allen attended the nationally-ranked law school at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2001, graduating cum laude. He was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar later that same year.
After law school, Mr. Allen immediately returned to Rochester as a legal clerk for the Honorable Joseph F. Wieners. In the fall of 2002, he began work at the 3rd District Public Defender, representing hundreds of individuals in criminal and juvenile cases ranging from misdemeanor traffic and DWI to serious felony allegations such as drug offenses, weapons offenses, assaults and sexual assaults, and attempted murder. After several years of practice as an assistant public defender, Mr. Allen made a decision to enter private practice and the Allen & Heim Law Office was formed. Mr. Allen currently practices law in a wide variety of legal areas.
Mr. Allen was married in 2001, and his first child was born in early 2007. He enjoys being a new father, sports, the outdoors, and considers himself a movie buff.
