James J. Addonizio is the Managing Partner of the law firm, where he has been a member since he began his career 34 years ago after graduating with high honors from Lehigh University in 1975, and thereafter attending Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., graduating in 1978.  Since 1984, Mr. Addonizio has been certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney.  This designation is bestowed upon only those attorneys who have applied for and met the standards of the Supreme Court’s Board of Attorney Certification and who have demonstrated specialized experience, knowledge and skill in civil trial practice.

Mr. Addonizio is now the head of the firm’s workers’ compensation department, which is one of the largest practices in Monmouth County and which maintains a significant presence in Ocean and Middlesex Counties.  Prior to heading the practice, he worked very closely with the former head of the firm, Martin M. Rudnick, in representing thousands of employees who have suffered injuries on the job.  Employees in New Jersey have legal rights to receive temporary disability payments, medical treatment and additional compensation when they are hurt at work.  Mr. Addonizio continues to fight for these rights, regardless of how seriously one is injured or who caused the injury.  A significant portion of this practice is devoted to representing members of law enforcement at both the state and local levels, as well as other employees in public service.

In addition to work related injuries, Mr. Addonizio continues to represent individuals that suffer serious personal injuries as a result of the negligence of others.  He has extensive jury trial experience in such cases throughout the State.  He has previously been involved in cases resulting in multi-million dollar personal injury awards.  He is especially proud to have represented several members of victim’s families due to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and having secured federal funds on their behalf.

Mr. Addonizio is also in charge of the firm’s family law practice, for which he devotes his professional time to representing clients with divorce and child custody matters including the legal issues associated therewith such as child support and alimony.  He also assists clients in need with separation agreements, prenuptial agreements, post-judgment modifications, domestic violence restraining orders and DYFS matters.

His real estate practice includes representation of clients involved in commercial transactions, including those involved in the buying and selling of residential and commercial properties, restaurants, nightclubs, liquor licenses, professional businesses and other corporate entities.  He also litigates disputes between parties that arise as a result of such commercial transactions.

Mr. Addonizio is the former trustee of the Trial Attorneys of the State of New Jersey.  He is also a former lecturer for the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
